Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE)
The government are currently funding a “Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE)”. This aims to improve the technology used in the farming industry in England covering equipment such as livestock monitoring cameras and precision farming technology.
The RDPE is taking place over three years and funding applications for the second year (2019) have recently closed. If you would like to upgrade your farming equipment, we recommend you check if you are eligible for the final year of funding (2020) using the following link. Please note, you can only claim for specified equipment if your business fits the criteria stated by the government in the link.
The RDPE has been in place since 2018; with over 3,600 farmers receiving anything between £3,000-£12,000 for their equipment investments, the scheme has totalled £37 million of funding so far. The final round of funding is taking place next year and claims must be submitted by midnight 31st May 2020.
Your claim must be worth at least £3,000 to be considered for the grant but no applicant can receive over £12,000 over the duration of the scheme.
If you have already received £9,000 or more from the RDPE you will not be eligible for the final round of funding due to the £3,000 minimum claim value. The £12,000 maximum still applies if you have previously claimed over the last two rounds of funding. For example, if you claimed £6,000 in total over 2018/2019 you will only be eligible for a maximum of £6,000 in 2020.
Once you have applied, the Rural Payments agency will write to you if your application has been accepted.
